ABC Hunt

After reading "The City ABC Book" by Zoran Milich, the students began to find letters in our classroom... letters that were hidden in the structure of many classroom objects.  Share these photos with your child and discuss the hidden letters together.  Have them trace it with their finger.  Some are easier to spot than others, and some are lower case while others are upper case.

Then we decided to take them around the school to see if we could find more in the halls of our building.

Well we weren't finished yet.... it was time to head outside.  Would we find any letters there???

That was a lot of fun... and a lot of work for the students.  We have a couple more letters to find, and then we will use the photos to create an alphabet line in our classroom.  When you are out and about together encourage your child to "go on a letter hunt".  If they can't find any, you can point out letters you see, and have your child name them.  Children can also identify the sounds the letter makes, and some may even be ready to list words that begin with that sound.  Have fun!!!
